Retired Lt. Cmdr. Richard J. Nowatzki, a veteran who served aboard the USS Hornet during the Battle of Midway, will be the special guest speaker at the January meeting of the Gold Country Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, Saturday, January 18 at 9:00 AM at Lou La Bonte’s Restaurant in Auburn.

Richard Nowatzki enlisted in the Navy August 1941. While serving onboard Hornet he was part of many key engagements including the Doolittle Raid and the Battle of Midway.

Members of the community interested in the Sons of the American Revolution are invited to attend this meeting to hear Lt. Cmdr Nowatzki’s presentation.

Sons of the American Revolution members are male decedents of a patriot who fought or assisted the cause of American Independence between 1774 and 1783. As a historical, educational, and patriotic, non-profit corporation, the SAR seeks to educate the public, maintain and expand the meaning of patriotism, respect for our national symbols, the value of American citizenship, and the unifying force of “e pluribus unum“. Numerous Presidents of the United States have been members of the SAR since its founding.

The Gold Country Chapter of the SAR was founded in 1924 and is based in Placer and Nevada Counties. Our membership comes from throughout the foothills and Sacramento region.
