Minutes of the August 19, 2023 Meeting at Mel’s Diner in Auburn, CA
President Dave Gilliard called the meeting to order. The meeting began at 8;38 a.m.
Invocation: Rod Beidler led the invocation.
Pledge of Allegiance: The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Steve Hoss.
SAR Pledge: The SAR Pledge was led by Mike Hurst.
Introduction of Guests: The guest was Coreena Ross.
Approval of Meeting Minutes
President Dave Gilliard made the motion to approve the Jume meeting minutes. Dale Ross seconded the motion for the minutes to be approved. The June meeting minutes were approved.
America 250 Minute Report
President Dave Gilliard gave his report about the America 250 minute and he spoke about Catherine Macauley.
Program
The program was about the 250th Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party. There was a discussion about the Boston Tea Party. There was a discussion about inviting Emigrant Trail Chapter and Captain John Oldham Chapter DAR as well as Troop 4 of Grass Valley, CA. There was a discussion of different ideas involving the 250th Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party. The 250th Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party will be on December 16th, 2023.

President’s Report: President Dave Gilliard gave his report.
1st Vice President’s Report: 1st. Vice President said he was going to meet the new principal.
2nd Vice President’s Report: No report was given.
Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer Dave Gilliard gave his report.
Secretary’s Report: No report was given.
Chaplain’s Report: Rod Beidler said a member of the SAR had passed away in August.
Valley Forge Report: Mike Holmes gave his report on the Valley Forge Program.
Color Guard Report: Dale Ross said the chapter is going to participate in the Revolutionary War Encampment in Pioneer Park, in Nevada City. The chapter is also going to march in the Constitution Day Parade. The dates of the encampment are September 16th and September 17th, 2023. The date of the parade is September 17th, 2023.
Old Business
Revolutionary War Encampment/Constitution Day Parade: Dale Ross said the chapter is going to participate in the Revolutionary War Encampment in Pioneer Park, in Nevada City. The chapter is also going to march in the Constitution Day Parade. The dates of the encampment are September 16th and September 17th, 2023. The date of the parade is September 17th, 2023. The Constitution Day Parade is celebrating its 100th Anniversary this year.
Wreaths Across America: The Gold Country Chapter SAR will participate at the New and Old Auburn Cemetery for the Wreaths Across America Program. The date of the program will be December 16th, 2023. The time of the program will be 9:00 a.m.
New Business
Auburn Veterans Day Parade: Mike Holmes spoke about the Auburn Veterans Day Parade. The day of the parade is November 11th, 2023. The parade committee is going to honor the Korean Conflict Veterans and the First Responders this year. The Auburn Parade is celebrating its 70th Anniversary this year.
Derek Brown: Dave Gilliard spoke about nominating Derek Brown for the Office of Registrar General of the National Society Sons of the American Revolution. Ron Barker made the motion to nominate Derek Brown for the Office of the Registrar General of the National Society Sons of the American Revolution. Mike Holmes seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Poster Contest: Dave Gilliard spoke about next years poster contest.
Benediction; The benediction was given by Rod Beidler.
The SAR recessional was led by Ron Barker.
